Imagination Library of Waco is pleased to announce the expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to a seventh Waco-area zip code, 76657, thanks to Rocket Federal Credit Union. The expansion allows all children in 76657 to receive one free age-appropriate children’s book per month from birth until their fifth birthday. Imagination Library of Waco expects to enroll 80+ children from the new zip code within the first twelve months and over 400 children by 2028.
The expansion was made possible by a generous sponsorship from Rocket Federal Credit Union (“RFCU”). RFCU’s ongoing support of the program will ensure that all children in McGregor have the opportunity to grow up surrounded by a house full of books. RFCU’s sponsorship was initially announced in front of the hundreds of people who attended The Great Waco Duck Race on October 8, Imagination Library of Waco’s first major fundraising event.
“We are so thankful to Terry Sloan, CEO of Rocket Federal Credit Union, who made this possible. Our long-term goal is to sustainably grow Imagination Library to all of McLennan County and RFCU stepped up to make that a reality for the McGregor community. We are excited to send more books to even more children,” remarked Executive Director Noelle Baker.
All children 0-4 years old living in 76657 are eligible to enroll; there are no other requirement. Imagination Library of Waco is excited to play a role in providing resources to families in these communities to foster a love of reading and learning. This long-term program facilitates parent-child bonding time and gives pre-school children the foundation for reading success as they enter kindergarten. If enrolled at birth, participating children can receive 60 books by their fifth birthday.
Parents or grandparents can enroll children age 0-4 online at http://www.ImaginationLibraryWaco.org. Children born at Ascension Providence can enroll and receive their first book prior to leaving the hospital. Imagination Library of Waco also enrolls children at various community events throughout the year. For more information on the program, visit our website or follow us on Facebook.
