Imagination Library of Waco is pleased to announce the expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to a sixth Waco-area zip code, 76708. The expansion allows all children in 76708 to receive one free children’s book per month from birth until their fifth birthday. Imagination Library of Waco expects to enroll 289 children from the new zip code within the first twelve months.
The expansion was made possible by numerous donations from individuals committed to enhancing early childhood education, as well as a generous donation from Fabled Bookshop & Cafe. In recognition of International Literacy Day on September 8, Fabled announced it would donate 20% of all bookshop and cafe sales and match customer donations to Imagination Library of Waco. The donation helped the non-profit reach the amount needed to start enrollment in the zip code. Future donations and grants will sustain the zip code.
“We are so thankful to all the community members who have made this possible. We are excited to share more books with even more children in Waco,” remarked Executive Director Noelle Baker.
76708 includes North Waco, Landon Branch, Dean Highland neighborhoods and extends north of the airport, including areas of Bosqueville ISD and China Spring ISD. Imagination Library of Waco is excited to play a role in providing resources to families in these communities to foster a love of reading and learning. This long-term program facilitates parent-child bonding time and gives pre-school children the foundation for reading success as they enter kindergarten. If enrolled at birth, participating children can receive 60 books by their fifth birthday.
Parents or grandparents can enroll children age 0-4 online at http://www.ImaginationLibraryWaco.org. Children born at Ascension Providence can enroll and receive their first book prior to leaving the hospital.
